Adanech's Films

Writer/Director of Stolen Childhood - a film which addressed the issue of early marriage and led to legislation being passed in the Ethiopian parliament. Winner of the 2nd Addis International Film Festival Award on Rights and Justice in 2008.

Director of Pillar of the House - a drama film commissioned by the Austrian Development Cooperation focussing on the role of women's decision making in the farming region of Amhara. 

Directed a film for ILO entitled “Exploring Employment Potential through Road Works – the ILO experience”. This focused on labor based road construction projects being undertaken by the organization.

Directed a 30 minutes documentary about Alternative Basic Education being provided by Oxfam GB and Water Aid in the Beneshangul region of Ethiopia bordering Sudan. entitled 

Directed a 15 minute documentary on the Home Care and Support activities undertaken by the Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia.

Directed a 30 minutes documentary film for CCM combattin Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the Somali Region;

Assistant Director for a drama and TV commercial produced for the Alive and Thrive campaign that dealt with infant feeding and nutrition.

2012: Received the prestigious ONE WORLD MEDIA award on behalf of Gem TV in London, UK;

Assistant Director on a a documentary film about the Karayu people whose lives depend upon their camels. This film was made in association with Valley and Vale Wales.

Assistant director and fixer for Safe Hands who made a documentary on family planning Institutional in the Gondar and Bahir Dar areas of the Amhara region. This film was produced in association with Family Guidance Association – Ethiopia.

2013: Wrote, Cast actors, Directed and managed the production of a drama film about TB.

Adanech's films have also featured at film festivals across Africa.
